Background

During its 39th session (1987), the Executive Council approved the institution of the Norbert Gerbier–MUMM Award, the purpose of which is to reward an original scientific paper on the influence of meteorology in a particular field of the physical, natural or human sciences, or, conversely, the influence of one of those sciences on meteorology. At its 43rd session, the Council changed the title of the award to: Norbert Gerbier–MUMM International Award.

In accordance with the guidelines to be followed for the presentation of the award, each year, the Secretary-General of the Organization invites the Permanent Representatives to submit nominations for this award. The number of nominations submitted by each Permanent Representative should not exceed two. The nominations should be submitted together with four copies of the paper in the published form in one of the WMO working languages and should be received by the Secretariat by the deadline indicated.
