The Ministerial Conference will be preceded by a Preparatory Expert Segment. During the first three days, invited experts will discuss in five sessions the challenges National Meteorological and Hydrological Services, as well as their partners in research, education, services and products developments from both the public and the private sectors, face and their potential contributions to the fulfillment of the Millennium Development Goals in Africa and the Strategic Plan of the African Union Commission, the objectives of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), and the implementation of national and regional sustainable development plans. The Ministerial Conference will receive recommendations in the form of a Conference Statement from the Preparatory Expert Segment.
