Consultations within each of the five pillars of the GFCS are needed to facilitate discussion of key issues related to the production, availability, delivery and application of climate services, in the priority areas, with a view to developing a detailed set of recommendations to be considered in the development of the draft implementation plan for the GFCS.
The consultations are targeted at key stakeholders at international, regional and national levels in each of the five components of the GFCS keeping in mind a sound geographic balance of the provenance of the participants.
More than 40 agencies and over 300 practitioners in the different pillars and priority areas have attended the meetings that were so far held, resulting in the volunteering of roughly 100 experts to contribute in the writing and reviewing of the Implementation Plan. The consultations took place from April to December 2011 and the outcomes of the consultations feed into the process of development of the detailed draft implementation plan for the GFCS, which starts in November 2011. |
