Nigeria inaugurates Inter-ministerial committee on national framework for application of climate services

President Namadi Sambo yesterday inaugurated an Inter-ministerial Committee on National Framework for Application of Climate Services. Speaking during the event at the presidential villa, Abuja, Sambo said, “As a result of the early weather warning memorandum premised on last year’s rainy season’s flood disaster that caused great losses to the nation, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) recommended the setting up of the committee which President Goodluck Jonathan approved. “The warning is timely considering the observable effects of global climate change and its resultant consequences in the form of rise in sea level shift in rainfall patterns and extreme weather conditions resulting in hazards such as floods and droughts.”
