World Meteorological Organization - From theory to practice - 3 national GFCS pilot projects in West Africa

Objective:

Entice other Met Services to follow the initiative of these 3 countries and also express the intent to set up Frameworks for Climate Services at the National level.

 

Overall Idea

In July-September 2012, the Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS) piloted three important activities to achieve a more effective and equal climate service system in West Africa: the National Early Warning > Early Action Workshops, to set up Frameworks for Climate Services at the National level in Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali.

 

Speakers

- Filipe LĂșcio: introduction, setting the scene in a GFCS context.
- Dr. Arame Tall, CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS)
- Dialogue session, (20min) during which attendees can ask questions (Q&A). Led off by one of the PRs from the 3 countries.
