Objective:

To inform participants of the work ongoing in the Pacific Islands region relating to the regional harmonization of capacity building within NMHS’s and the integration of Climate Change adaptation strategies into existing national and regional plans to manage natural disaster and climate extremes.

 

Overall Idea

Outcomes of the 2011 Pacific Met Council meeting including the Pacific Island Meteorological Strategy 2012-2021 (PIMS) and the status of the Pacific Met Desk within the SPREP Secretariat; 2013 Joint Regional Meeting of DRR Platform, Pac Met Council, Regional Climate Change Round Table and Ministers of Finance and Planning

- Multi-Media Presentation on an overview of the recent work to develop the Pacific Islands Meteorological Strategy, and to also outline on-going efforts to streamline the disaster risk reduction plans into over-arching risk management plans involving climate and climate change adaptation and impacts of severe weather hazards.
