Pilot Project in Mali
To address the broad range of climate-related issues that confront many parts of Africa, the project set out five components to develop the Global Framework for Climate Services:
- Development of a framework of regional and national climate services through 'Early Warning < Early Action workshops'
Workshop dates: September 4th to 7th 2012
- Rehabilitation and upgrading of the observation network
- Training and capacity building for the agriculture sector
- Upgrading of the climate data management systems including climate data rescue
Workshop dates: 19-23 November 2012, Accra, Ghana
Participants agreed to establish a West Africa Climate Assessment and Data rescue initiative (WACA-DARE) and developed a road map for its implementation. WACA-DARE will constitute a West African Component of an International Climate Assessment and Data sets (ICA&D) which is being established under WMO auspices.
5. Demonstration projects focused on development and use of customised climate information products e.g. in the health sector.

Le Mali doit faire face aux changements climatiques 10/09/2012
Du 4 au 7 Septembre s’est tenu un atelier sur la mise en place d'un Cadre national pour les services climatologiques, organisé par l’Agence Nationale de la Météorologie du Mali et l'Organisation météorologique mondiale, à Sélingué. Ce dernier a porté sur les moyens de transmettre l’information climatologique aux communautés qui en ont besoin et préparer des alertes précoces permettant d’agir par anticipation en fonction des changements et de la variabilité climatiques, peut on lire dans un communiqué de presse.

Le Mali face aux changements climatiques 14/09/12
L'Agence Nationale de la Météorologie du Mali et l'Organisation météorologique mondiale organisent un atelier national sur la mise en place d'un Cadre national pour les services climatologiques du 4 au 7 septembre 2012 à Sélingué. L'atelier porta sur les moyens de transmettre l'information climatologique aux communautés qui en ont besoin et préparer des alertes précoces permettant d'agir par anticipation en fonction des changements et de la variabilité climatiques. Il contribuera à la mise en place du Cadre mondial pour les services climatologiques (CMSC, ou en anglais GFCS), une initiative du système des Nations Unies.
