Expert Team on Services and Products Innovation and Improvement (ET/SPII)
The Expert Team on Services and Products Innovation and Improvement (ET/SPII) is the team which is tasked with keeping abreast of developments in technologies and techniques in various areas of the work of NMHSs relevant to PWS.
The Terms of Reference (TORs) of the ET/SPII, as approved by the Fifteenth Session of the Commission for Basic Systems (CBS-15), which held in Jakarta, Indonesia, 10-15 September 2012, are as indicated below:
Terms of Reference (TORs)
1. Monitor and report on the progress of recent ET/SPII initiatives;
2. In collaboration with other CBS OPAGs and other WMO Technical Commissions, contribute to the implementation of the WMO Strategy for Service Delivery through:
(a) Reporting and advising on how to best assist Members, especially developing countries, with building an integrated approach to PWS products and services to improve their service delivery;
(b) Keep under review the needs for new and improved products and services with emphasis on key PWS user groups;
(c) Advise on the development, application and communication of probabilistic forecasts;
(d) Continue to encourage the use of verification for PWS with an emphasis on user oriented methods;
3. Review and advise on the implications of the service delivery strategy for the future role of the forecaster; and,
4. Advise on and keep under review the development of World Weather Information Service (WWIS) and Severe Weather Information Centre (SWIC) Websites.
