COMMISSION FOR ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES (CAS)

The mission of the CAS is, through the GAW and WWRP-THORPEX Programmes

  • Support research in atmospheric science
  • Reduce and mitigate natural disasters
  • Protect the environment
  • Enhance understanding and response to environmental change

    Specifically to:
  • Develop the Numerical Weather Prediction predictive capabilities of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services and partners for weather, climate and air quality
  • Implement the Integrated Global Atmospheric Chemistry Observations (IGACO) through the GAW programme contributing to the WMO Integrated Global Observations System
  • Support atmospheric science, services and products related to International Conventions
