SEE Project: Phase II

As a follow-up of Phase I, WMO will continue supporting the DRR capacity development of South East Europe (SEE) through a second project funded by the European Commission (EC) Directorate General for Enlargement, through its Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA).  This project will be implemented in partnership with the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction (UN-ISDR).

 

 

Project Priorities: Phase II

The Phase II Project will focus on the following priorities as identified in the Phase I project: 

      • Enhance the regional hazard assessment and mapping capacities;
      • Enhance capacity to forecast hazardous meteorological and hydrological phenomena and deliver timely warnings to support disaster risk reduction;
      • Develop the capacity needed to support climate risk management and climate change adaptation into national and regional DRR agenda;
      •  Design a regional Multi-Hazard Early Warning System composed of harmonized national Early Warning Systems within a regional cooperation framework.

      • Transfer Disaster Risks
      • Community-based Resilience
      • Hazard analysis and mapping
      • Hazardous phenomena forecasting
      • Climate risk management and climate change adaptation
      • Multi-Hazard Early Warning System
