GCOS Cooperation Mechanism (GCM) Donor Board

The goal of establishing a GCOS Cooperation Mechanism was to develop a coordinated multi-governmental approach to address the high-priority needs for stable long-term funding for key (baseline) elements of global observing systems for climate in support of the requirements of the UNFCCC and other GCOS clients, especially those in developing countries, taking into account the special needs and situations of least developed countries and small island developing States.  Funding through the GCOS Cooperation Mechanism provides a means for aggregating voluntary contributions from multiple donors into a trust fund (GCM Donor Fund) and to allocate these funds to priorities agreed to by the donors (GCM Donor Board).
