Dossier on the Space-based component of the GOS

Documents

The regularly updated "Dossier on the space-based GOS" is reviewing the status of satellite programmes and analysing particular aspects.

It is maintained by WMO with input from all contributing space agencies in the framework of CGMS. This work is also coordinated with the European Space Agency's effort to maintain on behalf of CEOS the CEOS Missions, Instruments and Measurements (MIM) Database.
(On-line information on EO missions is also available on the ESA Earth Observation portal.)

Info: Downloading and using the GOS Dossier

Beware: This set of documents is available in a folder in compressed form (zipped) because of its large volume (13 MB). Do not open the folder on-line but rather download it and save it on your computer.

Then the five volumes need to be extracted together (Use "Extract all files") and kept in a common folder without changing the file names in order to preserve the hyperlinks among them. Total size, uncompressed, is 16 MB.

Download the dossier from the WMO ftp server

The dossier, updated in January 2012, includes:

  • Introduction
  • Volume 1: Satellite programme description
  • Volume 2: Earth Observation satellites and their instruments
  • Volume 3: Gap Analysis in the space-based component of the GOS
  • Volume 4: Estimated quality of products from typical instruments
  • Volume 5: Compliance analysis of potential produt quality with users' requirements
