RA I Dissemination Expert Group

Following recommendations from the EUMETSAT User Forum in Africa and the WMO Regional Association I (Africa), an RA I Dissemination Expert Group was established by WMO in cooperation with EUMETSAT, as part of the strategy to improve satellite data accessibility and user awareness in developing countries. The main purposes of the group are:

  • to collect and assess requirements for meteorological and environmental data and products by NMHS and partner organizations in Africa,
  • to define priorities and recommendations for the efficient use of EUMETCast-Africa for product dissemination.

The group held its first meeting on 26 September 2010 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, and a second meeting on 28-30 June 2011 in Darmstadt, Germany.

The group has performed a review of the EUMETCast-Africa Dissemination Baseline compared with the needs expressed by RA I users, and formulated recommendations to EUMETSAT.
