Barbara Tapia is a meteorologist with 19 years of experience in the Chilean Meteorological Service. Since 2008, she has been working at the Regional Meteorological Center on Easter Island. Throughout this period, she has gained invaluable experience in understanding the significant influence of the Pacific Ocean on the climate system of the area and also the challenges that small islands face in terms of their resources and access to technology. Furthermore, in the last 4 years, she has led the Working Group on Climate Services for South America (RA III) and she has been a member of expert & task team in OPACE 3.
