Background:
The Commission for Climatology, at its thirteenth session, CCl-XIII (2001, Geneva), established OPAG 3 on Climate Applications, Information and Prediction Services, under the leadership of Pierre Bessemoulin (France), with an ICT, Expert Teams (9), and Rapporteurs. CCl-XIV (3-10 November 2005, Beijing, China) decided to split the work into two streams, creating OPAG 3 on CLIPS, and OPAG 4 on Climate Applications and Services.

In collaboration with partnering agencies and academia, the ETs will strive to determine the role of climate in the activities and decision-making for the sectors, and will develop wherever possible joint workshops and publications on relevant issues. Each ET is guided by Terms of Reference (ToR), and will establish workplans with deadlines and deliverables for the period ending November 2009.
