Description |
Established in 1989, about 80
countries participate in GAW to monitor the atmospheric chemical
composition, and analyze and assess the data in the framework of
environmental conventions, and to develop a predictive capability for
future atmosphere states. The GAW network comprises about 300 stations
world-wide. Five GAW World Data Centres coordinate and share
responsibility, according to selected atmospheric chemical constituents,
for collecting, documenting and archiving data and metadata, and to make
them freely available to the scientific community. |
