Description |
The WMO Space Programme (WMOSP) aims at enhancing the space-based component of WMO’s World Weather Watch (WWW) Global Observing System (GOS). Technical/scientific specifications for environmental operational and R&D satellites are coordinated to ensure that future space systems meet user requirements. Operational aspects and programmes of current satellite systems are coordinated through the WMOSP between the satellite operators and the user community. The data generated by the various satellite platforms improve weather forecasting and support early warning of natural disasters on a real-time basis and contribute to climate change monitoring programmes on a non-real time basis. |
