BIPM - Bureau International des Poids et Mesures
The task of the BIPM is to ensure world-wide uniformity of measurements and their traceability to the International System of Units (SI). The BIPM carries out measurement-related research. It takes part in, and organizes, international comparisons of national measurement standards, and it carries out calibrations for Member States.
EUMETNET - The Network of European Meteorological Services
EUMETNET is a network grouping 18 European National Meteorological Services. EUMETNET provides a framework to organise co-operative programmes between the Members in the various fields of basic meteorological activities such as observing systems, data processing, basic forecasting products, research and development, training.
Through EUMETNET Programmes, the Members intend to develop their collective capability to serve environment management and climate monitoring and to bring to all European users the best available quality of meteorological information.

WRC - World Radiation Centre at the
PMOD - Physikalisch-Meteorologisches Observatorium in Davos
In 1909, the "Physikalisch-Meteorologisches Observatorium Davos" (PMOD) started operational measurements of the direct solar irradiance. Later, it started investigating the biologically active ultra-violet radiation, UV-B.
In 1971 the PMOD was designated by the World Meteorological Organization to serve as a World Radiation Center. The operation of the WRC was offered by the Swiss government to WMO as a contribution of Switzerland to the World Weather Watch Programme.
A further service was added in 1996 with the operation of the World Optical depth Research and Calibration Center (WORCC), a Swiss contribution to the Global Atmosphere Watch of WMO.
