Canada, Pakistan, Philippines

Toronto experienced its most active lightning storm in five years.

Flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall killed 27 people, and nine other were reported missing. An estimated 400 to 450 houses were destroyed along with massive losses to crops and livestock.

A south-west monsoon triggered extreme rain in northern Luzon, causing widespread flooding and eight landslides.

Dust from Iraq blanketed and disrupted economic activities in the Arabian Peninsula.

Typhoon Etau

Etau triggered heavy rain, floods and landslides, killing at least 14 people and injuring 18 others in eastern parts of the country.

Typhoon Morakot

Morakot resulted in the deaths of at least 460 people and the collapse of more than 6 000 houses in Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangxi and Anhui. The direct economic loss was estimated at over 9 billion RMB.
