Appointment of the Secretary-General

 

The Secretary-General of WMO, Michel Jarraud, was re-appointed by Fifteenth World Meteorological Congress (7-25 May 2007) for a second four-year mandate, starting 1 January 2008. Mr Jarraud was appointed by Fourteenth World Meteorological Congress in 2003 and took up his post on 1 January 2004. sg's photo


Elections of the President and Vice-Presidents

 

President

Alexander Bedritskiy (Russian Federation) was re-elected President of the World Meteorological Organization by Fifteenth World Meteorological Congress for a second four-year term beginning immediately after the closure of the Congress. Dr Bedritskiy was first elected President of the World Meteorological Organization by Fourteenth World Meteorological Congress in 2003.

First Vice-President

Ali Mohammad Noorian (Islamic Republic of Iran) was re-elected First Vice-President of the World Meteorological Organization by Fifteenth World Meteorological Congress for a second four-year term beginning immediately after the closure of the Congress. He was first elected First Vice-President by Fourteenth World Meteorological Congress in 2003.

Second Vice-President

Tyrone Sutherland (British Caribbean Territories) was re-elected Second Vice-President of the World Meteorological Organization by Fifteenth World Meteorological Congress for a second four-year term beginning immediately after the closure of the Congress. He was first elected Second Vice-President by Fourteenth World Meteorological Congress in 2003.

Third Vice-President

Antonio Divino Moura (Brazil) was elected Third Vice-President of the World Meteorological Organization by Fifteenth World Meteorological Congress for a four-year term beginning immediately after the closure of the Congress.
