Did you ever wonder...

... how weather presenters know the weather? Throughout the year, meteorologists and hydrologists across the world, work together in the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to collect, analyse and disseminate information about weather, climate and water, including reliable and timely weather forecasts.

Weather and climate recognize no political borders. For this reason, sixty years ago, on 23 March 1950, nations adopted a Convention, creating an intergovernmental organization known as the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) that would facilitate international cooperation in the areas of weather, climate, water and related sciences.

Today, WMO is the United Nations authoritative voice in those areas, setting global standards and facilitating free exchange of information among the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services of its 189 Member States and Territories.

This web site dedicated to children and teens answers frequently asked questions you may have about weather, climate and water. It is also a starting point for a better understanding of how these affect every aspect of your daily life. Information on weather, climate and water is vital for protecting our environment and for making the planet safer for us all, especially for future generations.
