The goal of the Conference is aligned with the Sendai Framework's Seventh Global target:

Substantially increase the availability of and access to multi-hazard early warning systems and disaster risk information and assessments to the people by 2030.

We will being encouraging submissions from all spheres of the multi-hazard early warning systems (MHEWS) domain, from the hazard identification and assessment phase all the way through the MHEWS chain to the communications of warnings to the end user, as well as including how governments invest in and finance these end to end systems. The Multi-Hazard early Warning Conference will also feed into to the UNISDR 2017 Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction at the Moon Palace Resort located in Cancún, Mexico. The Conference will also feed into to the UNISDR 2017 Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction which will take place at the same venue.

The conference in brief

The Conference will be hosted by the Government of Mexico in Cancún from 22 to 23 May 2017. It will be held in conjunction with the 2017 Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), which will take place in Cancún from 22 to 26 May (preparatory meetings on 22 and 23 May will be followed by the official opening on 24 May, including a Special Session on Early Warning).
