May Temperature Records Broken at 117 Points Across Turkey - Turkish Meteorological Service

Turkey faced an unprecedented heatwave between 16 and 22 May according to the analysis of the Turkish State Meteorological Service. At 117 observation stations spread over 35 cities, the highest temperatures for May were recorded. TSMS issued a warning on 13th May forecasting that temperatures would increase in western parts of the country including Marmara, Aegean, western Mediterranean and central Anatolia and reach 9 to 13°C above normal.
