New Media Representatives (on News and Activities) for Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet)

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) is pleased to inform you that our DG/CEO Professor Mansur Bako Matazu was appointed Chairperson, Board of Governor of the African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development (ACMAD). This was following the eight extraordinary sessions that took place virtually on the 28th of June 2021. He was elected as the chairperson to serve for four years. Professor Matazu is the 1st Nigerian to hold this post in this post in its 29-year history.

 Senator Hadi Sirika, Honourable Minister of Aviation Stressed that Professor Matazu’s latest achievement is worthy of commendation while lauding him for his dedication and commitment to public service ever since he assumed office as Director-General/CEO in March 2021.

 The African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development (ACMAD) is the weather and Climate Centre with African Continental Competence. It was created in 1987 by the Conference of Minister of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). Its operational base is in Niamey, Niger Republic. ACMAD is composed of 53 Member States of the Africa Continent.
